we're artists

I just arrived from our NaSc2 field trip to Quezon City this morning (PHIVOLCS, PAGASA, NIGS). We were asked to form groups of ten people, and my groupmates were all okay. i really enjoyed the pagasa planetarium! ooh.. pretty stars! o_O

anyway, I was really pissed off with my other groupmates because they were making fun of us commarts students.

they said "comarts lang yan!". they said WE DO NOT HAVE MATH COURSES ON OUR CURRICULUM. shut up! we have math courses. we can even take up math17. but they said it doesnt matter because math17 isnt required on our curriculum naman. they even said "Imposible! Hindi nyo kaya! HAHA! Tagapagsalita lang kayo!". I admit I'm not very good at math, and all I could ever brag about is my english. But that doesnt mean we are UNABLE to study math. it's like saying we're too dumb to study math. it's like they're saying that we only trust our speaking and writing skills to earn points. that we're not given math courses because we cant pass them.

me: naiinis ako sa mga kasama ko kanina. nilalait kaming comarts hindi daw kami marunong sa math!

toot: ...oo nga daw. hindi nyo nga daw kilala si ******

me: huh> oo nga hindi ko yun kilala.

i do not remember the name but i guess he was a mathematician. but who cares? is it our fault we're not required to take up math courses? how about them, do they know robert frost, jose garcia villa, or james joyce? they dont NEED to know them because they arent taking up comarts. BECAUSE comarts IS NOT their course! because they hate english. because they have bad grammar and awful pronunciation (not all, though). but what are we doing to them? do we slam it in their face? "ANG BOBO MO SA ENGLISH, PAPASA KA KAYANG ENG1??!" do we discourage them from taking ENGLISH COURSES because theyre too DUMB to take up english courses?? NO we dont! that makes me really angry. they even laugh it off as if it were a joke. and i just cant help but go pikon.

because it really hurts to be labeled as dumb. you know, even when they do it TACTFULLY.

and then there came the topic about the devcom students and the commarts students being rivals. i didnt even know that! theyre comparing the courses pala. i dont even care, although i picked up facts from my lts classmate (who was taking up coma101). so i dont think i need to compare the two anymore.

and i have nothing against them. they do their thing, we do ours. they study their subjects, we study ours. they live their life, we live ours. what's the problem?

and what if we're not good in math? we have our own strengths and weaknesses. sila ba sa lahat magaling? ang yabang naman non. theyre going too far. everything dumb, even the jessa zaragosa songs, they called as 'comarts'. theyre bringing us down.

the challenge to all comarts students is that we should not be doing the same thing to them. we shouldnt be comparing our course to other courses. and maybe we could try improving our math skills. we shouldnt make the mistakes that they are making. they do not have the right to bring our course down. we we're blessed with this course because this is what will lead us to what we want to achieve in the future. if we want to be a journalist and we're bad in math, we do not pick a course like BS MATH because that is not the right path towards reaching our goal. that's the idea. we're here as comarts students because we we're not born with really good math skills but really good artistic skills. we're here to use our skills. we must not let our talents rot just because they the tell us that our course is rather useless. let us follow our passion.

we're not mathematicians, we're artists. respect is all we need. we could smile at your taunts, but actually for us that would be like throwing heavy ice blocks on us. you know, with all the laughing together as you do it. it hurts, and we ourselves start to think if we really are dumb because we've been given the impression that our skills are useless if we dont know good math. i mean, we can count money and do algebra. we passed trigo and calculus. how could they say that? and they make it sound so universal.

and they should consider this: if we were good in math, we'd be too perfect. hahahaha! just kidding.

anyway, too much for that. i just typed all my bad feelings away. God bless you guys!

*****UPDATE: THIS IS OUR BIG SECRET. I HAVE A NEW (AND VERY PERSONAL) BLOG: ROCKETBOOTH. Thanks for visiting that site. :)*****
